What we know: Jeffrey Stambaugh, an experienced hiker and resident of Tucson for almost three decades, was reported missing after failing to return to his Granite Basin campground in Prescott National Forest. According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Jeffrey gave his mobile phone to the camp host to charge on September 29, but never came back to get it.
Stambaugh’s car, a Subaru,
was later discovered outside the Metate Trailhead.
Stambaugh has gray hair, hazel eyes, weighs 180 pounds and stands 5 feet, 9 inches tall.
