Trammel (Tram) Evans, was last seen April 30th 2023, when his girlfriend dropped him off at the Black Rock Campground around 8:51pm.
Last Known Place: Black Rock Campground, Joshua Tree National Park
Tram was going to hike the hiking-biking trail from this campground to Geologist Road, and left water caches at Juniper Flats and Geology Road.
When Tram’s girlfriend returned to pick him up 5 days later, he was not at the meeting spot. She reached out to family and law enforcement was called. The FOF became involved in May 2023 after receiving a call from Tram’s mother, Amy.
Nine months after Tram was reported missing, his remains were discovered in Joshua Tree National Park by scientists researching bats within the park.
The FOF’s Executive Director, Cathy Tarr, was in the park prepping for a scheduled search effort when she spotted the activity. “Immediately, I thought it was Tram,” said Tarr.
Tram’s mother and aunt had just flown into Palm Springs airport when they received the news that a backpack that had belonged to Tram had been discovered.
“It was a terrible two days for Tram’s mother, Amy. Finding out your son is no longer alive is devastating,” said Tarr.
Tarr called off the scheduled search and began supporting the family as best as possible.
Everyone at the Fowler-O’Sullivan Foundation, including the Peer Support Group that Amy participated in, felt very close to this case and the Evans family.
